Write a 5 paragraph narrative essay 30 minutes -1 hour per day - Creative Writing or you can follow a prompt, here are some options if you NEED a prompt:

MONDAY

Good morning amazing 5th grade students!

This week will be a little bit different than the last! Seattle Public Schools has created a plan for the coming weeks with the at home learning. They decided that we will spend this week to see what kind of technology families have and what life is like during quarantine. Using that evidence, we will help get families technology and materials so that students can do school from home.

TODAY I need all students to try to log on to schoology. I have a post inside of schoology on the "updates" tab on our classroom page. I want every student to try to get into schoology ASAP so i can see who needs help/ support from me.

IF you do not have a computer, follow this video to get instructions of how to log onto schoology within an APP: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1o93wIOa8bJPYrbecpCT15rLUFL6LBr0xJZLwijPno9M/edit#slide=id.g8186f020f6_0_52

Please follow the below directions to get into schoology on a computer :)

1. On Google Chrome, go to seattleschools.org.

2. On the top of the website you will see the words Students, Family, Community, and Staff with a small arrow: Click Students and then click schoology.

3. This will redirect you to the schoology page. To log into schoology you will use your Seattle Schools login for the computers. It will be the username with a 1 in the front of it, and the password is your birthdate. When you log into schoology it will need your username as an EMAIL.

ex. If your username is 1madrown....it will become 1madrown@seattleschools.org and

ex. your PASSWORD is your birthday like this : 08092010 is your birthday is August 9, 2010, etc.

4. Once you're into schoology go into the homeroom page for our class and comment on the post in "updates".

IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOUR DOING IT, IT WILL PROBABLY BE TRICKY. DON'T GET FRUSTURATED!! :) Please ask parents, siblings, other friends in class, etc. to help you get in!! You can text me or call me if you can't get it figured out with the people you have at home or as friends, but please try other sources first. I want you to figure it out 1on your own!! :)

If you get into schoology, please practice getting into it 3 times before you do any daily lessons.

Figuring out all of this online learning will be our social studies project this week.

AS OF NEXT WEEK, WE WILL USE SCHOOLOGY EVERY DAY FOR SCHOOL INSTRUCTION :)

Reading daily question (sticky note): After reading your book, please answer: Would you reccommend this book to someone else? WHY or WHY NOT?? Give details!!!! (ex. I would not reccommend this book because it has too many small details that take the focus off of what is actually happening with the characters, which does not help me to understand and comprehend the text.)

PLEASE WRITE FOR 30 MINS WITHOUT STOPPING!!! (Including the diary entry)

Science: This week we will be focusing on the Solar System! This is one of the 5th grade standards that we would be talking about while we were at school, so now we must learn about it at home! This project is a WEEK LONG project, which means there is no reason to rush through it :) Please follow the steps below and complete the project by Friday:

        1. Create a KWL chart about the solar system. This is a chart with THREE columns on the paper. One column will be K, one will be W, and one will be L. The K column will be completed first by you. The K column is a list of thing you ALREADY KNOW about the solar system/ space. Write as many as you can! The W column is a list of things you WANT to know about space, but haven't found the answers to yet! (Ex. How does a space ship fly when there is no gravity in space?). And the L chart is where you will record new things being Learned throughout the week! You will not record anything under L until you have learned it through this project :)

      2. For the next step, there will be many brain pop vidoes and a Bill Nye video to watch. I encourage you to watch ALL of the videos throughout the week in order to best complete the assignment. Login for brainpop: qae         Password: bp

In the video that I will post a link to, there is a person creating a solar system art project. You will follow along and create the same thing! If you do not have access to oil pastels, you can use crayons, colored pencils, pens, anything colorful! (If you have none of these, let me know) After you draw your model of the solar system, you will write for me a T-chart with the planet names on the left and 3 unique features of that planet on the right side of the T chart. You may do the writing portion in Docs or on paper at home :)
